چکیده

Abstract Background Treatment of recurrent retinal detachment (re-RD) following vitrectomy (post-gas/air tamponade and post-silicone oil removal) is challenging. Previously reported treatment commonly revision pars plana (PPV) combined with tamponade, which invasive a burden both economically emotionally when compared scleral buckling (SB). The purpose this study to report anatomical functional outcomes SB or without gas in eyes that previously underwent PPV at least once. Methods We retrospectively reviewed the medical records 14 patients (14 eyes) who once were treated after re-RD. Preoperative characteristics, intraoperative complications, postoperative data assessed. final analyzed. Results original was performed for primary rhegmatogenous 11 eyes, macular hole 2 myopic foveoschisis 1 eye. Previously, 3 one remaining (79%) 2–5 operations. Seven procedure injection. At last follow-up, 13 achieved total attachment eye had intraocular pressure within normal range, except (6 mmHg). finest best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) 20/25. There significant improvement BCVA from 20/160 ± 20/63 baseline 20/80 20/50 visit successfully ( P = 0.025). Conclusions can be effective re-RD specific cases.

Scleral infolding combined with vitrectomy and gas tamponade for retinal detachment with macular holes in highly myopic eyes.

PURPOSE To describe the effectiveness of a surgical procedure, scleral infolding combined with vitrectomy and gas tamponade, for retinal detachment caused by macular holes in highly myopic eyes. METHODS In a pilot study, scleral infolding was performed in 5 patients with macular holes, who were selected from 10 consecutive highly myopic patients with retinal detachment caused by macular holes...

Scleral buckling versus vitrectomy for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment

Introduction Retinal detachment (RD) surgery is the most common retinal surgery performed. RD can be repaired either by scleral buckling (SB) or pars plana vitrectomy (PPV). Pneumoretinopexy, laser delimitation or observation can be done in selected cases. The decision to perform SB or vitrectomy depends on various factors, including age of the patient, duration and extent of RD, presence of pr...

Vitrectomy with and without scleral buckling for retinal detachment repair in pseudophakic patients.

PURPOSE To compare the surgical results of vitrectomy with and without scleral buckling for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment (RD). METHODS Fifty-one patients with rhegmatogenous retinal detachment with proliferative vitreoretinopathy (PVR) at different stages were submitted to pars plana vitrectomy as the primary surgery, 23 patients (45.09%) with scleral buckle (group I) and 28 (54.90%) wit...

Outcome of scleral buckling procedures for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment.

OBJECTIVE To study the outcome of conventional scleral buckling procedures performed for primary rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. METHODS This prospective study was conducted at Khyber Institute of Ophthalmic Medical Sciences, Hayatabad Medical Complex, Peshawar, Pakistan from 02-08-2008 to 29-04-2009. The outcome of fifty-six consecutive cases, operated in nine months duration, for primary...
